Take a walk in the Starry Garden
This work of the Parcours Estuaire created by the Japanese Kinya Maryama was thought as a space to be lived: one walks, one rests, one breathes and one contemplates.
The landscape architect worked from the constellation of the Big Dipper and the four cardinal points. At each cardinal point, a divine animal: in the east, the blue dragon (water); in the west, the white tiger (wind); in the south, the red bird (fire) and in the north, the black tortoise (earth).
The Starry Garden is inspired by a traditional Japanese tale about the love story between two stars. This garden is made of materials from the region such as chestnut perch, slate, sand and earth from the banks of the Loire or reeds.
Visit the Navy Museum
In the heart of a former fort dating from 1861, the Musée de la Marine plunges you into the maritime universe of the region through models, objects and films. It is intended to be the memory of the shipbuilding industry in the Estuary. This museum is managed by an association of enthusiasts.
Discover the Ocean Snake
The Ocean Serpent is a monumental work of the artist Huang Yong Ping measuring 130 meters long and installed at the Pointe du Nez-de-Chien in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins. It was created in 2012 as part of the contemporary art biennial.
At high tide, this skeleton is hidden under the ocean and is only revealed at low tide. The vertebrae of the skeleton are mobile and undulate with the current and the tides giving the impression that the skeleton is alive.
